Vulnerability
I started sharing my ideas for the paint and sip with God and my friends in October of 2018. I was called to push myself as an artist beyond the four walls of my bedroom. I know how important it is to share the gifts that God has given us, while also providing an opportunity for others to benefit from them. Vulnerability was not only the challenge I was presenting to my guest but to myself. From the brainstorming, networking, event planning, and marketing, I was completely taken out of my comfort zone. I was nervous! Because I’m a self-taught artist, having to teach people how to paint, a God given gift that I cannot even begin to explain was hard to wrap my mind around. Especially with my focus being abstract. But I remembered that He qualified me. I am so proud I went for it because as always, God exceeded my expectations!

Expression
Look at how beautiful and unique each one of these paintings are! I was surprised how eager this group was to get started. To be honest, I was winging it. I sat down, multiple times, to create a flow of how the event would run but it felt so unnatural. There’s no lesson plan when I paint; I either stare at the canvas for hours or I dive in. When the event started I humbly asked God to guide me. While I was demonstrating how each of their brushes and materials worked with the paint, they literally just started painting, going in doing their own thing...so I feel back! I bumped the music, floated around the room with words of affirmation/artist tips, made jokes, and hit a few jigs. I realized that they didn’t need me, rather they needed the space to express themselves. This event proves what wonderful things can happen when the space for opportunity is provided, and it confirmed for me that I’m taking a leap of faith in the right direction.
